The Reykholt choir was originally a partnership between the church choirs of Hvanneyri and Reykholt which was instigated in the 1980‘s by Bjarni Guðráðsson, organist and farmer in Nes in Reykholtsdalur. The choir has performed at many a celebration, foreign visits from heads of state and important occasions in the district.

The choir has also travelled abroad, -to Norway in 2004 and the U.S.A and Canada in 2007. The conductor was from the beginning founder Bjarni Guðráðsson but in 2012 Viðar Guðmundsson, who had been the accompanist from 2001, took over the baton.

Today the choir is a partnership between the church choirs of Hvanneyri, Reykholt and Stafholt.
