Atte Kilpeläinen's music studies began in a local music institute and culminated in degrees from Cologne University of Music and Sibelius Academy. Since August 2005 he has held the position of principal viola in the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra. As a soloist he has performed with the likes of Antti Tikkanen, Jaakko and Pekka Kuusisto and Gareth Lubbe. He has also been a member of Meta4 since 2006.

In 2009 he became a founder of Hämmentämö, a multidisciplinary art association, the aim of which is to increase the dialogue between the different art forms.
