Lecture in Icelandic
The Sagas of Icelanders are unique in medieval literature and Iceland's greatest contribution to the world's cultural heritage. Two of these, Eirik the Red's Saga and the Saga of the Greenlanders, describe the discovery of Wineland and Nordic exploration in the New World a thousand years ago.
In this lecture meteorologist P. Bergthorsson combines detailed scrutiny of the Sagas with a variety of other evidence, e.g. archaeology, geography, meteorology, navigation, anthropology, botany and zoology, and his own explorations, to locate Leifur Eiriksson's Wineland.
